Four skills, one band score
Listening, Reading and Writing are taken back-to-back on the same day. Speaking is a face-to-face interview, held on the same day or within a week.
Listening
30 min · 40 questions
Four recorded sections — conversations and monologues — moving from everyday to academic contexts.
Reading
60 min · 40 questions
Three long passages with a range of question types testing skimming, detail and inference.
Writing
60 min · 2 tasks
Task 1 describes a chart or letter; Task 2 is a 250-word essay. Often the hardest band to lift.
Speaking
11–14 min · 3 parts
A live interview: introduction, a short solo talk on a cue card, then a two-way discussion.
